This past week was pretty crazy. We got to go to the temple on Tuesday which was great! Thursday was interesting. Absolutely nothing happened. We saw no one. No one was home. It was the longest day!!! But we did end the day by stopping at one of our investigators homes who then dropped us because he got into some Anti-Mormon stuff. So we returned home pretty discouraged. Then our Zone Leaders called us, telling us they just had a great lesson with a guy named J but his nick name is Beans (Even Stevens anyone?) We call him Frijoles because I'm funny. Anyway, we met with him the next day. He had recently gotten in a car accident, he parties, and wanted badly to change. When he met with the Elders they invited him to pray and he just let everything out and wants to get baptized! So we began teaching him because he's YSA age. He's so awesome! There are a few of the commandments that are foreign to him because he has absolutely no religious background. But he's great and he's already changing. We also had a wonderful Mothers Day. I have the most amazing mother who does so much for me! It was great to Skype! That's all the update I have at this time. More fun next week. Don't forget to read and pray every day!!!!
May 18, 2015 Scatterbrained Week!
Okay first of all let me just tell you how real the struggle is. So this past week..... first of all, the other Sister P and I unknowingly just ate a good amount of expired food...until we realized it did not taste right..... and that it was moldy. Gross! Then our car got recalled so we had to take it in to get a "check up" I guess, but we ended up being at the dealership for like 3 hours and IT'S STILL THERE! That was last Thursday.... the Elders have been kind enough to let us borrow their car when needed so all weekend we've been sharing. The good news is it rained buckets because we're in a drought and need that. The bad news is it rained buckets and we didn't have a car. But! It worked out. Except on Thursday night when we left our car at the dealership we also left our keys with them for the car...but we forgot our HOUSE KEY!!! So we were late past curfew, it was still raining buckets and we had to wake up our land lord to let us in. The best part about the struggle is last night we went to a fireside and carpooled with a member because we didn't have a car, then left our phone in her car!!! Also every Sunday night the Elders call in to check up on our week, but we didn't answer because we had no phone... so they thought we died. Still don't have a phone or a car, but God is still good so no worries. Oh and we left our tennis shoes at the church building for a service project but can't very easily just walk over there and tract around with shoes in our hands... So I've been running in the mornings with my striped ankle socks and Mary Janes. That's the end of our struggles for this week.
But a lot of great things have happened! Beans is progressing! He's still good for his date on the 30th. Having members really does help!!! If we were just doing this on our own there is no way that he would be ready for baptism by the 30th. The more time they spend with him the more he sees how he can have fun without "partying". The elders also passed off one of their investigators to us because she's YSA age. Her name is R and she's the best!!! She is getting baptized June 13 and loves the church! There have also been a lot of times this week where we have just completely inquired of the Lord and have been taken where we need to. That's been really helpful, especially with all of the things that went wrong this week. We've still been blessed with so many tender mercies and I don't think a lot of miraculous things would've turned out the way they did if everything went smoothly. The Lord knows what he's doing. We just have to trust him. Have a lovely week!
